Distributed messaging infrastructures are notoriously difficult to get right without flooding networks whither they are for chat or IPC. Ive only seen a few good implementations ever and that always required a set of redundant nodes sequencer to allow for an orderly replay mechanism in the case of message drops. Some (not all) of the layer 4 transport mechanisms used by trading feeds are a good example of this kind of distributed communication.
