Have you tried this stupid trick? Its something I did when I could not get Suse installed on my Dell Latitude= laptop...
Get Ubuntu (in your case- the netbook edition - http://www.ubuntu.net/getub= untu/download-netbook ), and install it.
Then get your Linux distro and install it, erasing Ubuntu, but keeping the = partitions it created.
Yes, it sounds stupid, but that is how it worked for me.

My experience with the HP Mini hasn't been simple.=A0 There are a lot of=20 hardware issues.
