For the C/C++ kids, the problem is solved.
I'm not sure that all of these ppl are up to installing any COBOL yet, and I'm fairly sure most of them have no Linux/Unix acquaintance. One doesn't need much to *use* it (the main glitch for many with gcc is capturing the error msgs if they are using pico)
