Supporters, well you can make up your own mind about that. Google doesn't want GPL code in Android. Now I've seen some of the news about the Chrome OS, and while they're apparently not the same thing, I think Google's track record here is pretty clear.
Also we need to be clear about something else. Linux is a kernel, GNU/Linux is an operating system. Using the Linux kernel doesn't make something GNU. Chrome OS will be using the Linux kernel. But from the sounds of it, it's not going to be any more a GNU/Linux distro than Android is. Let's face it, the world didn't need Chrome OS, Linux users didn't need Chrome OS. Google needs Chrome OS, and for now I have to conclude from their patterns of behavior it's because their interests are apparently incompatible with ours, and nobody should exactly be shocked about that.
