Good Morning Membership
Last night we had a nice get together, with warm friends and good conversation. Since 2001 NYLXS has grown and changed over time, but it always impresses me that we have a fantastically warm group of people, a family of members who have been the rock of my existence for nearly a decade now. May it be in Lake Placid, CUNY, Kings Games, or here at home, whenever we get together it seems like Thanksgiving. So long have we been together, and so productive we have been as a team, that we share deep and lifelong bonds which, at least for me, give depth and meaning to our day to day trials.
I want to thank everyone who came by yesterday, and helped out. This the threat of snow, I'm almost surprised anyone showed up at all. I also want to give my deep appreciation to those who have donated time and money to the NYLXS mission.
With regard to the last point, I have a modest fund raising goal for NYLXS of $1000. We have raised $100 until now, and we have an immediate need for another $200 by the end of next week. Anyone who can spare a donation, or pay the $40.00 membership dues, now ***is*** the time to make your stand for the organization before our internet presence goes out.
Also, I want to call a meeting this week to plan classes and move forward with the workshop. I was wondering if anyone has Manhattan space to teach in? Perhaps we can use someones apartment twice a week.
I want to hold the meeting Wednesday at the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel Lounge at 7PM. Without any objections, please consider this a firm date.
One further thing. I need a young programmer to help me with a coding project, someone who might want to sharpen their Perl and Apache skills.
