Believe me, you have no idea how true that is. I'll admit when I first wrote that email I was freaking out on coffee, sleep deprivation and a few weeks of frustration. But the truth is, I've spent a crazy amount of time trying to get the most basic tasks done. And it's not just me. Search after search show the same problems among a number of users.
The ease of use only exists if you do what they want in precisely the way they want you to do it. I also get the impression that some languages on this platform are, shall we say, "more equal than others". Objective C is the classic example.
I like the hardware, but that's about it. Well, that and the Wi-fi connectivity is much better than Ubuntu. The interface is admittedly pretty, but I could have easily reconfigured the gnome desktop to look just as good in a quarter of the time I've been spending on this thing. At this point the only thing keeping me with this system is the $1400 I shelled out for CS4.
Let me just add that there's also something creepy about the fanbase when a developer writes that since the mac is too difficult to configure to use a necessary library in language X, then he'll probably have to switch to a different language. I've actually seen two or three posts like that.
