Ruben,
Hey, I found your contact info on linux.org as a NYC LUG contact. If I have reached the wrong person, please forward this to the LUG contact person.
I produce an educational comic that teaches Ubuntu called "Hackett and Bankwell," and I'm looking to use it as a tool to get more people interested in Linux. The first issue is complete and available, and I'm currently working with the illustrators on the second issue (intro to the command line). Now that I've been done with it for a few months, I've been seeing things about #1 that I know I can improve going forward. Basically, when I started, I was thinking more "illustrated manual" than comic so although the information contained is very useful to new users and the writing style is conversational, I am doing more to represent concepts visually in #2. In other words, "show don't tell." Because I want to make the best product possible for learning about and learning how to use Linux-based operating systems, I want to get as much feedback as possible. As such, I would like to mail you some comics to distribute to members of your LUG and your community in general.
The comic itself is a really nice production and its straightforward approach can help new users who are familiar with commercial operating systems understand some of the concepts involved in Free and Open Source Software. Besides being useful as an outreach tool, users who are already familiar with Linux might want to just keep it and hopefully give me feedback to help improve the product for subsequent issues.
If you would like me to send a few, please let me know where to ship them and I will get them right out to you.
Thanks a lot, Jeremiah T. Gray
