Good Day
I'm new to the group. My name is Tameek. I'm 26 years old, and currently studying for the Linux+ certification. I'm a bit of a noobie, I've been running Ubuntu only since 6.04 and have recent played around with SUSE 11.0. Although I have only been using Linux for a few years I'm I've already chosen a side when it comes to my editor and Linux GUI. I'm Team VI/GNOME all the way! I'm very much interested in learning programming, but I'm not really sure where to begin. I find shell scripts using the CLI easy to understand. I always hear that C is the foundation of Linux and today's programming languages (I also read a little on COBOL, and FORTRAN but I don't see many jobs looking for programming knowledge with the these older languages. Any suggestion are welcome. Also feel free to throw any of those Linux/Unix books my way, particularly shell programming.
