I'm not sure what issues Bassam has had previously but it is axiomatic
on my part that I'm not going to sign anything which restricts my
abilty to make works available and to education, especially in light
of the extremely debilitary way copyright law is currently. And I need
open and free cooperation to help promote something, which is so time
consuming I can't even begin to express it.
I don't believe that it i shwed business to close off the distribution
and promotion of works, especially when trying to develop schools, especially
in a small narrow cultural segment, especially when the word 'Arabic' itself
creates visereral negitive emotional reactions by Americans which additionally
needs to be hopped over.
When I suggested he was a perfectionist, it was actually a hope on my part
that he was artistically motivated, and not legally motivated. Artistically
motivated I can eventually work with because I'm comited to helping people
with worthwhile contributions to make find ways to promote their contributions
to society. But a legal and "business" motivation is a black hole contrary
to my most basic efforts (and your basic efforts as well).
This line of thinking is a trap. If you beat people over the head wit legal
restrictions then either they'll just ignor the law anyway and perform
copyright violations, or they'll just ignor you and forget about you
because nobody outside of a few lawyers wants to be bothered with
threats to be sued.
Take some time out and lookup vitalbooks and Ruben Safir, and see the
Creative Commons by Lawrence Lessig, which I don't entirely agree with
but is a good starting point.
Promoting creative work which are singlerly controlled by a single
entitey lock stock and barrel is something I don't want to promote.

Of course. I've been at this now for 8 years. I think I'm aware of both
the terrain. I feel like a tape recorder sometimes.

We intimately share our civilization. You and I, and 10 billion
other people who yearn for freedom, knowedge, and the ability to participate
and share. We can work together to turn ignorance and suffering into
education and light, or we can chase false pretenses which hurt us all.
