SUBJECT | Subject: [NYLXS - HANGOUT] Transit Taxes
|
I'm just dropping a note to you to tell you that the position that you've tken on streetblog.org with regard to the tolling of the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges is repugnant. Have you stopped for a second to understand how badly this fragments the cities diverse community?
You want to stop unecessary driving? Turn your attention to suburban drivers.
Toll the LIE, Garnden State and Southern State and Sunrise Highways.
Demand a free subways system funded out of the general fund.
End the MTA and return the NYC transit system to NYC.
Give resident New Yorkers in all 5 boroughs exclussive street parking rights as well as bridge and tunnel rights.
And so on.
This tax targets Brooklyn and Queens leaving the make culprets of drivers into Manhattan, suburban drivers from Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, and New Jersey off the hook since they already pay the tolls.
and it does NOTHING to help the needed trucking.
