has any one else seen these the Asus Eee Pc its a tiny laptop with a solid state(Flash memory) drive that comes pre-installed with Linux i was in J and R computers the other day and a saw a big crowd in the laptop department i was curious what every one was looking at and it was to my surprise a 300 dollar Linux laptop. later when i got home i saw my new issue of the GNU Linux journal which reviewed it. it got the best reviews I've ever seen on shopper.cnet.com by a lot of non technical people. i must admit i was impressed by this tiny little laptop with a 7" screen that has openoffice2 and Penguin Racer( a.k.a. Tux Racer). its slick it runs a strip down version of Xandros, however a quick google search and i found instructions on how to bring up the terminal and use apt-get to install a full KDE desktop. its the coolest Linux device I've seen yet it definitely beat the cool factor of my Sharp Zuraus when i got it and its base model is cheaper too. What i was most impressed by was all of the people who had no clue what GNU Linux was looking at it, playing with it, and buying it. It is J and R's best seller right now. this is a significant thing for GNU Linux it means that there is a very good chance Linux will capture the new solid state ultra portable laptop market.
Rubin I think there is finally an economic replacement for your picture book its actually smaller and has a webcam
