I think its actually a design flaw. When I was in San Fransico I had folks tell me that it the system doesn't have enough memory on the the drive that it can't boot. But there is a secret button on it that will reflash it to the original configuration. I haven't bothered to really explore that. I can't seem to find the charger for it and its a lot of money to replace.
If I can come up with the power supply, I might try to work on it at an installfest.
