Further investigation seems to show that Thunderbird uses a delimiter that looks like this: From - Sun Nov 18 01:22:56 2007
Now I see what you've been trying to do at least, but you're killing yourself with all the regexes you're running. This stuff isn't as simple as it ought to be, and if you're not going to use someone else's code, you're probably going to find it time well spent to at least look at someone else's code to get ideas about how to efficiently split messages out of those mboxes.
