SUBJECT | Subject: [NYLXS - HANGOUT] Website Updates
|
I'm busy rewriting a lot of the functionality of the NYLXS and the Freeom-IT websites. It's been a bit longer to do that I thought, much because of the first step is parsing all the old mail boxes I have and pulling out all the HANGOUT mailings to store in a database. This is well over 700,000 lines of data (thanks for the binaries in the mail guys!).
This makes testing go slower than I'd like and the large sample is important for the purpose of shaking out my regex routines on the From lines in the mboxes.
In place already is a program to hook future mailings directly to the database. This will be brought on line soon. In addition, there is the front end which needs to be built out.
I wanted to get a new asthetic design for much of our work. I've looked at a few dozen web designers, and I've sort of settled on one, but they have been a bit resistant to paid offers to help. But I'm going to try a face to face. I like this designer because they've done important non-profit work outside of the design field, and once organized something like NYLXS, but not involving Free Software, just kids.
Meanwhile, I need more volunteers for Freedom-IT and some recruitment for NYLXS.
One more thing. If anyone has a website or an organization, please join Freedom-IT and also put links on your pages!
Shake the bushes guys.
Ruben
