As mentioned on the group meeting last Wednesday:
Delphi Resturant, where the Mad Scientists held their meetings for many years, will be closing on Fri Oct 26, 2007. The Mad Scientists will hold their last meeting there meeting on Oct 25th. Saturday Oct. 27, Delphi will be auctioning off its equipment and possesions (Tables, chairs, etc.). 2 Sushi bars will open it is place before the New Year.
The landlord raised the rent to 4X what the owners could afford and has basically shut down
Come and show the place support and give it its last Horrah!
Delphi deals in Fine Greek Dining since the 1970's. The people who run the place are great. Price maybe a high high, but thats because of the place they are in: Lower/Business center of Manhattan where rents are sky high!
They are on the corner of West Broadway and Reade Street; 1 block north of the # 1/2/3 train station on Chambers Street and West Broadway. The A/C/E is also about 2 blocks away from there.
During 9/11, these people kept their doors open for rescue workers like myself and fed us free of charge, and allowed us to use the facilities. In my mind and heart, these people dont deserve this. Its too late to anything about it now, but we can give it one Last Big Get Together in that place!
I'll be there at my usual time of 6pm, at my usual space- the main dining are next to the bar.
