Hi Ruben,
I am writing to see if the New York Linux Scene would be interested in having Ken VanDine, leader of the Foresight Linux project, come to speak at one of your upcoming meetings or events.
In case you aren't familiar with Ken or his work, Foresight is an advanced Linux distribution focused on delivering an outstanding user experience and being as user-friendly as possible, yet powerful enough for advanced users. It is built using the latest GNOME desktop technology, and package management system Conary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conary_%28package_manager%29). Also, Foresight is assembled by a distributed project team using the rBuilder Online and rMake build service from rPath. For additional reference, here's a pretty informative story eWEEK recently ran on Foresight --http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,2090294,00.asp
If you're interested, Ken would be able to share insight and personal anecdotes from his work at both Foresight and rPath, as well as discuss some of the value behind using a software appliance delivery model for Linux-based applications. Please let me know if you and your colleagues are interested in having Ken come and speak, or if you would like any additional information on him or Foresight. We are also willing to provide a level of sponsorship for the meeting/event (pizza, etc.) or content for your newsletters. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for your time and consideration.
Best,
Dana
