The problem is that your not increasing the number of job oppurtunities available to the community through recruiters when these kind of tactics are at work. The reasons for this is that they don't have the jobs they advertize and 5 of them will have the same job.
Confronting this, we set up the Free Software Chamber of Commerce with varrying levels of success. But I have had in my hands 5 real jobs over the last 2 weeks or so, in which I suprisingly enough couldn't find peole to fill.
I wanted to set things up so that NYLXS would get a 10% cut on jobs to use for marketing and business development for the community as a whole in NYC. By pulling resources, individual contracters can make much better guarantees than one could make individually, and we could churn the right work to the right people, while also bringing people up to seend on new technology and job skills and being able to therefor guarantee the quality of the labor.
It was ambitious and we are still dedicated to the full program. Of course, one of the key peices was to get someone who could do real recruiting for regular gigs and 9-5's.
If NYLUG or NYLXS could limit access to a single recruiter, the organizations should be able to recieve a consideration for the relationship, one that is benificial to the entire community.
