They informally began planning at this time a new Free Software Expo worth of New York City, dubbing it in time, Freedom-IT.
Plans had begun to shape up in 2004 so NYLXS went on a retreat to Lake Placid in order to discuss more detailed plans. They invited the entire Free Software community, and paid for a van and hotel rooms for the trip from New York to Lake Placid. The meeting was so successful that the board is considering a bi-yearly out of town convention for just such purposes.
