As a heads up. Ubuntu is NOT ready for a real server as far as I am concerned.
Others have had some problems with it.
The main issue that I had was setting up a dual drive machine in a raid
with LVM on it (which is probably a good idea) can NOT be properly
setup with ubuntu at this time. I have done it but it took me over 12 hours
to get it working on a low power mini itx. (part of that was that the
installer was reporting errors on it)
Fedora setups of the same are MUCH easier. With SCSI vs IDE,
I am hearing that there SCSI still gives better responses than IDE not
sure about SATA though. My attempt at using a SATA raid had found a
situtation with one machine where the BIOS claimed that we had a
RAID but the drives were presented to linux as individual drives.
