If I may, about the server. I really think you will find more redundancy, value, and performance out of a good IDE RAID-1 setup. Setting it up w/ Ubuntu is a breeze (Alternative Edition). I see no reason these days to buy SCSI or RAMBUS, aside from the fact that RAMBUS is a criminal, predatory organization who does things like submit technology to open standards, hide the fact they patented the shit out of it, then tries to bully others into paying them. They'll never get a cent from me.
Enough rant.
Basically, you can't beat the setup I mentioned- cheap, fast and rock solid.
