I was talking to Evan on the Phone about this earlier in the day
after I posted this.
Too me, Novell has squandered a unique oppurtunity to see profits
with free software in a key and unique business space now entirely
dominated by NT clone systems. Novell was in the position
to tie verticle applications to X and the server and to invest
in GTK and GNOME development for office and business automation.
The failure to make this investment was not only costly to them, but
puts the entire Free Software model in the lurch. Microsoft is even
more entrenched with non-cots, complicated business software than ever.
If your going to lose 20 million dollars, you can at least get a working
accounting and office automation suit with the necessary tech support.
too me they are just so stupid.
