This is very fustrating because I have no idea how this worked out and I just got information on this at 6:20PM.
In addition to that, since Mr Jay and Mr Brett has destroyed the foundation of NY Fair Use, we don't currently that mechanisms in place to respond rapidly to this. For example, we had a phone tag set up where teams of people would call each other to quickly mobilize phone calls to DC to put the breaks on something like this until it can be looked at further.
This gets to the raw fundementals of political action which was ripped apart by the egos of Jay and Brett. They insisted on not doing the hard work which is needed to remain vigilant on a single issue, DRM and Fair Use, and instead insisted on doing what gave them personally the most amount of photo ops :ie to play wack the mole with every issue.
If you want to be effective, you need to politically organized, everyone marching to the same tune, everyone reinforcing the same message, relentlessly plugging at every chance the same exact message.
And then it takes a positive agenda. Not. what you don't want, but a legistlative agenda for what you do press, and relentlessly press. Otherwise crap like this happens because these greedy mother fuckers are mandated to never relent to making more profit for the company and if the result is that the internet ends, what do they give a shit.
