Anyone who understands how business works understands that this makes no sense unless you want to prevent free market competition. This is why common carriers are regulated, in order to prevent the distortion of market forces through monopolistic behaviors.
Truthful, we'd be better off if the companies which are proposing this restriction of the publics resources to be dissolved as legal entities and the administration of the common carrier access given to another form of establishment so that the US can finally catch up to places like South Korea for public broadband.
