Ruben, I ran across your post here: http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?8,20881,20881
I know your post is sort of old, but I would be very interested in contributing. I am not a pharmacist, but I do own three pharmacies which run the Rx30 Pharmacy system. We have created our own chain management/reporting/tracking/workflow solution (Including signature capture) in PHP/MySQL. We also joined NCPDP as a developer about a year ago in order to access the NCPDP 5.1 Standards. I have also begun development on a system (written in PHP-CLI/MySQL) which is capable of parsing and forming NCPDP 5.1 packets. It makes for the beginnings of some low tech PBM software.
The biggest problem with creating pharmacy software will be the cost associated with subscriptions to DUR/Allergy/DUE/Drug/Price etc databases from First Data Bank or Medi-Span. Developer subscriptions to these databases can run thousands of dollars each month.
Let me know if you are still interested (or have begun) with thsi project. Fell free to contact me either by phone work: (954)568-6212 cell:(954)612-0948 or via email.
Thanks,
