Program Manager - French-speaking IT Manager with USAID and/or
significant private industry experience

After careful review of the Geekcorps Mali program, we've revised the job
description and requirements for IESC's Geekcorps Mali Program Manager.
Below is the newly revised position description which focuses more on
project management experience than hard IT skills.

--- Geekcorps Mali Program Manager ---
The International Executive Service Corps, a 501(c)(3) international
development nonprofit organization is looking for a passionate and
experienced technology expert and advocate to manage its Geekcorps Mali
program in Bamako, Mali.
The Geekcorps Mali Program Manager is a full-time expatriate-level
position, based in Bamako, Mali, open to qualified candidates of any
nationality. Reporting to the Vice President of Field Operations and
supported by the Geekcorps staff in Washington, DC, this position will be
responsible for the management and growth of the Geekcorps Mali program.
Geekcorps Mali is an established program with staff, volunteers, and
facilities in Mali. Its main goal is to bring technology solutions to
community radio stations in Mali, to increase the quality of information
they have at their disposal, and to encourage sharing of information and
programs between the radio stations. Due to its success, Geekcorps Mali
has an increasing portfolio of projects and partners that include
SchoolNet, Africare, and the University of Bamako.
Required & Preferred Skills:
- Project Management: Required: Strong project management experience managing multiple
ICT-based projects and staff in public & private industry. Preferred:
Familiarity with USAID grants and administration requirements
- Technology Leadership: Required: Deep knowledge and understanding of information and
communication technologies and their practical application in real-world
environments. Preferred: A focus in Linux programming or administration,
connectivity (networking, wireless, satellite), and Free and Open Source
Software.
- Program Development: Required: Previous success in identifying and developing winning
ICT-based project opportunities and proposals from private industry and
government sources. Preferred: USAID.
- Language and Location: Required: Advanced French verbal and written language skills, and
international work experience. Preferred: Previous experience working in
developing countries, especially West Africa.
