SUBJECT | Subject: [NYLXS - HANGOUT] meeting minutes grant proposal comm.
|
Meeting Minutes: NYLXS grant proposal committee Date:6/22/05 Location: Pizza Villa, Mid town Manhattan. attendees: Dave, Mike and Joann.
Dave opened the meeting with a review of items covered on last weeks NYLXS board meeting. The following are bulleted statements that relate to the Grant proposal comm..
The proposal will have to refer to the Free Software movement and not Open Source. The budget as it stands, is not a complete breakdown of expenses, Rubin has said that the Grant committte is to expand the budget as necessary to reflect grant proposal requirements. The Freedom IT event is a separate cost item from the Grant proposal. We have not identified space requirements or location for NYLXS training center. These items will still be included in the complete budget breakdown as estimated costs.
Michael recommended that:
NYLXS have a list, on our website, of Free Software applications. We should have it broken down along the lines of educational and business Free Software. Include all Free Software that is fully supportable by NYLXS. Mike asked, What is the difference between Free Software Foundation and Open Source Foundation?
Dave found some confusion with the fact that many applications are both Open Source and Free Software.
Joann agreed to put something together and send it to HANGOUT to clarify what Free software is. She will also see if she can get us a copy of the grant proposal book we have been using as our reference guide. Library notified Dave that book is on hold and must be returned.
Dave will send out task/budget sheets to comm. members for time and budgetary tracking. Each member will keep his own sheet and update it as necessary.
Dave will make contact with three grant prospects and report at next scheduled meeting.
Dave will resend grant prospect worksheets to comm. members.
Next meeting scheduled for 6/29/05.
