I've done a lot of looking and listened to a lot of hearings about this bill, and the response by Dell and other hardware manufacturers is to either add additional cost to NYC specifically (as opposed to NJ) or limit sales in NYC all together, This is the City Council bill, right?
A recycling problem on this scale has to be a national law. With the growing hysterics over mercury in Fish, ground is growing for something to be done. But if passed strictly by the City, it is going to drive jobs away. In fact, I've spoken to some people in industry who are ready to steer IT farms out of NYC to Jersey, as if the Nuclear Threat over Manhattan hasn't done enough damage.
Add to this the fact that SIAC might fold up in a few months, and the current outsourcing. This is a hell of a way to fight a boarder war for jobs.
