Never had such problems and I print to a variety of HP, Canon, Xerox, and Minolta printers... How are you connecting to the printers? Parallel Port or are the Printers networked (jetDirect etc)

OK
Yesterday I have a date with this lovely, smart girl for a broadway show and I need to print out the web page for Prime Grill, because Le Maraise is booked. And it's 3PM and I need to meet her at 5PM. And CUPS magically, on two different systems, refused to talk to the printers. The damn jobs are in the que. You can see them with lpq
lpc shows the dameon up and the printers down! There is no lpc funtionality, and no CUPS replacement I can find in the documentation. And I'm banging my head into a panick now.
So obviously, I'm feeling stupid because I can't get the damn things to print.
