Most things in Free Software have better help than slaveware, but user
end aplications are often a huge exception, especially OpenOffice.org
Many of these applications have been imported by comercial ventures. OOo
was handed over from Sun Microsystems. Frankly, the developers of OOo
resist attempts to build documentation. I've seen quite a few people
try to work with them. They have a very problematic attitude in this
regard, and I've seen them say the source is the documentation, which is
of course, obsurb.
I've hoped Novell would step in an get this done. Frankly, the documentation
and bug fixing in OOo is FAR more important to its usefulness than any new
versions.
If anyone wants to approach the Open Office folks (Sam is still on this list?),
I'd be willing to put a group together to to get the thing documented.
