I'm with you on this. However, I don't actually KNOW what the native cababilities of the PalmOS6 Cobalt's Protein API is (love those friggin' codenames). I know PalmOS5, but that's all that's released on real devices so far. I don't read the manuals for vaporware, generally. The BeOS base of Cobalt would go a long way toward filling the big gaps in what we have for a PalmOS Garnet API (PalmOS<=5). I mean BeOS is a real OS with a POSIX API. The differences between PalmOS Garnet (v5) and Cobalt (v6) are probably much bigger than the incremental addition of the Linux API to the BeOS API.
The evolution of Palm so far (basically and approximately):
PalmOS 2.0-5.0 (basically MacOS v2 API +featurecreep) *HUGE FUNCTIONALITY LEAP OCCURS* PalmOS 6 Cobalt (BeOS API) *SMALL PORTING EFFORT OCCURS* Palm-on-Linux (Linux API)
So they can probably just keep Cobalt supported all over the place, with or without Linux ____________________________ NYLXS: New Yorker Free Software Users Scene Fair Use - because it's either fair use or useless.... NYLXS is a trademark of NYLXS, Inc
