Maybe you enjoy paying taxes for frivolous court cases to be heard, the majority of us who work for a living do not. Just as in the case of hosting the 2012 Olympics is a major waste of city and state finances, the majority of sane Working NY'ers oppose the venue due to the fact no city has ever made any net revenue, money or otherwise, from hosting the Olympics. And as stated above in the subject, "Weird Useless News", it is exactly that.
And just to clarify a point, I am an animal lover and past owner but do not feel the need to be one of those weepy touchy feely people who like to bring litigation over a dog. If you are stupid enough to give your pet away and then go asking for him/her back especially after others have footed the medical bills, you deserve what you get.
Stop forcing local taxpayers to foot the bill for stupidity and childish behavior.
Regards,
Evan M. Inker

You obviously don't have an 11-year-old.
If these families are wasting "everyone's time", what are you doing forwarding it to a mailing list?
I think treating domestic companion animals as livestock misses most of the emotional value placed on them. My cat is worth nothing in dollars. Someone deprives me of my cat, he owes me nothing in civil damaages. Obviously people don't keep cats around because they like to be surrouned by valuable things in the house. The problem is that the court assigns a position-neutral value to the object "cat" based on breeding and age, or whatever. The court SHOULD be determining what the cat is worth TO ME, not what it's worth to Taco Bell or to the "Free Market". If a chihuahua is worth $600 (guessing), then it would be irrational to bring it to the vet for a $1500 operation or to spend $30/month to buy its medicine for 5 years. Yet people do it.
I'm with the homeless Rocco Fund people on this one. ____________________________ NYLXS: New Yorker Free Software Users Scene Fair Use - because it's either fair use or useless.... NYLXS is a trademark of NYLXS, Inc
