Blame your plan....
And blame the Pharmacuetic Companies. The Phamracy gets about 0.65 cents
from filling the prescription and processing the Rx cost 0.25$ per connection
to Medco. Medco then cuts a back door deal claiming that they are "buying"
the drug in bulk, which is BS because their not buying ANY DRUGS, and getting
a rebate from the manufactorer for about %40 of the cost which they POCKET.
And then the Drug company passed the cost along in the next price increase.
Thats why I don't give a shit anymore if ANYONE is making money on RXs' I
just want to get my money and to consel patients. So I found a store that
is doing about 20 Rxs a day and which they are paying be just shot of
100K a year or 40 hours a week. And if I don't get like a 10% pay raise in
about 6 months, I'm walking to the next job. They all complain that they
can't find Pharmacists and they can't afford Pharmacist, meanwhile they
sign contracts which are below their costs and push the Pharmacists to
fill over 350 Rxs a day when the **know** that anything over about 140 in
an 8 hour shift triples the medication error rate.
And it gets worse. Then Medco, which was owned my Merk until recently,
forced the patient to go mail order, where they NEVER get the needed the
clinical work the patient needs, which has been shown repeatedly in a dozen
studies at this point. Proper pharmacuetical monitoring and care saves
nearly 30% of the costs per patient year because reduction of adverse reactions
and imporved patient outcomes.
So the ***most*** cost affective means of ***reducing*** health costs is
having patients spend MORE time with the pharmacist. Its not a damn
bagel shop when that Birth control tablet causes a stroke in a 29 year
old women because nobody was watching and nobody was warned.
And that happens every day.
