Not only that, but with a cooperative MD, I can usually save the patient about 40% in the costs by switching the patient to more cost effective alternatives, which is something the Pharmacy companies REALLY don't want to see, because that usually means switching the patient to drugs which are not only generic versions, but specific medications in the class of drugs which are theaputically just as good but a fraction of the price. Sometimes the difference is pennies on the dollar.
Like nobody should take Lipitor unless they've tried Lovastatin first. Lipitor is about $180 an RX and Mevacor/Lovastatin about $40. They are both SAFE and AFFECTIVE at lowering Cholesterol in almost exactly the same way.
Nobody should ever be put on Amaryl without showing that Oranase, Glyburibe and a dozen other drugs haven't worked.
Amaryl is about $100 an Rx and Glyburide about $8.00.
