Over the last 24 months, it seems that we have, as a society, been stumbling about, without much optomism. And a lot of hard feelings have been raised between friends and enemies a like.
I have a good feeling now. I've always been a strong supporter of the Iraqi war and our national direction in the general, but an honest person had to see the Iraqi insurgency, the stagnating economy, and errosion of our political rights from the patriots act, with a weary eye and some distress.
And now as the C train has literly exploded in our face, exposing the MTA as the corrupt anti-city agency that it has been, I can see we've hit the bottom and are about to turn around.
These next few years are going to be much better.
I just viewed an Iraqi election campain comerical on PBS, and it can bring tears to your eyes. The Palestinians seem to be finally serious about getting its house in order. It's almost incrediable to think, but the Middle East is busting out in Peace and Democracy, the radicals have over-reached and declared war on Democracy. The great thing about Democracy is that when you declare war on it, it declare war on ***everyone*** and there is no theological way out of it once your exposed. These guys are ready to go down hard. And listen to the press this week. All we hear now are reports from the people! The people are finally being allowed to be heard and they are telling us on the 6'oclock news how they can't wait for the Iraqi elections.
And now the city is pissed off at the MTA. The outerboroughs are seething again and is tired of being kicked. Guess what, we are going to have a real election for Mayor again in the coming months, on concrete problems facing this city. We are going to have a good day, and I'm betting that when the dust clears, Pataki and the MTA are going to be the big loosers, and Brooklyn is going to be the big winner.
I really think we've turned the corner.
