SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] In lui of a board meeting, some suggestions
|
Since we seem to be having trouble getting a board meeting through the holiday season, I have some suggestions for some direction in the coming quarter, and I'd like to get feedback from the membership:
1 - We can announce an effort to get a Free Software PC into every Congressional office as a donation from NYLXS. This can be coupled with a Hardware Recycling program and push donations.
2 - We can shift the Radio Show to Sunday Mornings: I work after 2PM now for one thing
3 - We can schedule a childrens after school workshop at Kings Games in Graphics and Photo editing
4 - We can film the classes and distribute the videos
5 - We can offer classes in the Brooklyn and NY Libraries, they have such a porgram
6 - We can alter the FSI classes to change them from 2/500 to $20 for each single class. This was an original idea which I killed because everyone wanted to pay up front in Manhattan. But in the outer boroughs, this might be a better idea.
7 - We need a monthly leadership class for no charge for NYLXS members. We have the handbook but never fully capitalized on it.
8 - We can start a couple of Free Software programming projects.
