SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] Plans for Flyer Distriubtion
|
Evan has sent me samples of the flyers for classes and the open house.
I want to now discuss our commitments for the Open House and our schedule for flyer distributions.
Over the next couple of days I will be contacting several select individuals about commitments for the Open House and the flyers.
In terms of the Open House, I have several informal commitments for small (and the key word here is small) and hands on demonstrations for the Open House. Among the ideas we are planning is LDAP authentication, Multimedia and sound (cd ripping etc), remote access through X, Office automation and graphics, GNU/Linux for kids, programming tools, and CD distribution (burning Memphis on the fly for users and giving them the disks).
the Flyer distribution needs to start on Monday November 29th. We need to get members and associates to put up flyers in their own neighborhoods, including Astoria, Greenpoint, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Bedford Stuyvesant, Red Hook, Kings Highway, Staten Island, Brooklyn College, Avenue U and Avenue N. If we can, I'd like to also reach Park Slope.
The Sunday and Monday before the Open House, we need 3 people on each day, to hand out flyers during the evening rush on Monday, and in the afternoon of Sunday. If we can muster the manpower, I'd like to get someone on Sunday at the Brooklyn Public Library.
I'm asking everyone to think about setting aside a few hours for these activities in your busy schedules. I know that everyone is under pressure and time constraints, but please try to make some time available for this. The life blood of NYLXS is membership and doing this well is essential for the success of the organization.
Ruben
