That's because your a CS major, which the vast majority of my students aren't and you know that Perl has many fundemental C structures. I make sure my students understand the relationship between mamory storage, C, and how Perl handles and manages its memory without worrying about the C level specifics.
The class is an intro to programming class, not a Perl class and not a how to cookbook of Perl Syntax class. When you take this class, you come out of it with essential appreciation for the tasks of programming and the consequences of your code and design. The lessons learned are needed for a solid foundation in all programming in any language, and enables the student to make rational programming choices, as well as enabling them to evaluate different programming launguages based on features as well as syntax.

Ruth, she is cool. Haven't heard from her in a while by I love her anyway.
BTW - did you read in Scientific America the article on Physical Chemsetry, Black Holes and Computational Devices? They seem to be all the same thing. The Universe ***IS*** one giant computer, just like I've always taught in GNU/Linux One!
The Moody Blues were closer to being correct then I'm sure they thought. I just need more magnetic tape.
