Linux open source, administration, Perl, C++, kernel, X11 develo
Design applications, significant subsystems and/or complex individual
programs. Estimate time requirements for a set of modules with internal
and external dependencies. Ability to identify alternative
implementations or strategies and weigh the impact of each. The
applicant's primary responsibility is for the development, maintenance
and support of heavily customized Linux client systems (Nextgen).
Additional responsibilities include development and support of our
internally developed application distribution system.
Requirements:
A successful applicant must be able to communicate effectively with
internal and external customers and vendors, and be able to prepare
significant written documentation including specifications and release
documentation. Unix/Linux developer with at least 3 years experience and
with at least 1 year of Linux. Linux experience should be on either
Redhat Linux 8 or greater or SuSE Linux 8.0 or greater. Knowledge of
Open Source software methodology and experience with Unix/Linux system
administration,shell programming, Perl, c/C++ are essential. Knowledge
of X11 (especially XFree86), Linux kernel development, HP/UX, IRIX, are
strongly encouraged.A successful applicant should have a demonstrated
ability to adapt rapidly to new technologies, tools and
environments.Familiarity with the Open Source Community is a large plus.
Experience with Clearcase, Apache, html/http, HP/UX, Tivoli, SNMP,
PXE/BOOTP, Redhat Kickstart, Suse AutoYast, and OpenView are beneficial,
but not required..
