Communication is not that critical as opposed to general use, creating and
maintaining tables and relationships, backing up data etc.
Sockets vs IP is not that difficult to grasp unless you are programming....

I can teach this, but you need to understand that MYSQL is not platform
independent. It works differently on Windows from Linux. for one thing,
the W32 version defalts to IP communication as opoosed to unix socks, among
other things,
In fact, MYSQL is part of the normal FSI classes
