I dont understand this at all. Who is volunteering here? Who do you think
lacks the skills? Brooklyn College has some of the best programming students
in the city if not the country. An opportunity for the students to sharpen
their IT skills in a real world environment would prove exponentially
beneficial to them and the faculty. Hiring a contractor whose only interest
is to earn a buck would not bring the same benefits. What you suggest goes
against the basics of Free Software and I am surprised you suggested something
like this.
The impression I get from this reply says that you feel that absolutely no one
who is not certified should touch a computer. To me that strikes of a
proprietary software model environment.
Where does beer even come into the picture?
