Meetup Inc. (http://www.meetup.com/) has a new position in our Technology and Development team for a full-time Junior Software Engineer. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the patterns and principles of web development, and a desire to use that knowledge on a daily basis building robust, efficient and innovative web based applications.
The position requires experience in all the following areas:
* Strong knowledge of and practical experience with the Java Programming Language * Experience using SQL to efficently retrieve and alter relational data * Experience with Tomcat and/or similar web application containers * Handy with at least one scripting language ( Perl/Python/Ruby ) * Experience with templating systems, including JSP * Ability to work immediately in a Linux environment * Good written and verbal communication skills * Motivation and desire to work very hard at a small start-up on revolutionary new products
Some big plusses:
* BS in Computer Science or equivalent * MYSQL experience * Schema design * CSS/XHTML/Javascript
This position is in New York City; we will not pay any relocation costs.
