SUBJECT | RE: [hangout] BIOS Virus?

Did anyone bother to look at which HP PCS SuSE has actually certified. The Brio is only certified with Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop which I believe uses the 8.2 build. The only HP/Compaq's certified for Suse 9.x series are the EVO and Professional Workstation line. HP has stated that the Brio only is certified for Mandrake 9.1, 9.2, Suse Enterprise Linux Desktop, and RH Enterprise Linux 2.1.

Yes but the chips needed to be infected to start with. If this was the case, then you have a plethera of machines being recalled or hearing about it. CMOS can easily be wiped by either removing the Lithium Ion battery....

Yes
But they happen, even in the older machines, the cmos get infected. In fact, there was one manufacturer a few years ago which shipped a bunch of infected chips sets out to the public. All bios have some capacity for memory recall, otherwise they would have no options.
That being said, I doubt that is his problem.
