No way Ray. The kid is psyco nuts. He has been and has always been, going back as long as I've known him.

I read the lists, Then you must have missed the post when he singed off the mailing list. Should I go back and fectch that message. The fustration he was showing for no reason was so extreme that I called him up and asked him if he was feeling OK because it wasn't making sense to resign from the list because members had differing opinions on PHP and Mandrake. His diatrab on Mandrake had nothing to do with the systems being 100% free or not. It was all on technical merits. In fact, he was breaking up with his girlfriend at the time and that was the source of his fustration, not our disagreements between Mandrake and SUSe. He was channeling that fustration at other targets.

He's hardly stupid, but his stubborness and hypersenitivity to critism makes it very difficult to really access just how bright he is. One thing is certain. When compared to someone of similar age like Paul Rodriguez, Paul Marino, or Jacek, Sunny has a long way to go. If he'd stop letting his personal emotional troubles from getting in the way, he'd probibly allow for a lot more of his natural intellect to flower. But as he is getting older, personality traites which were obversed a few years ago, which I dismissed as mear growing pains, are becoming increasingly clear as signs of real physilogical manifestations of psycosis.
> very open to alternative viewpoints,..
No. Defenitely not. He takes all views diffeing from his own with the utmost personal insult. In fact, he just sat there in the face of 4 people telling him he was wrong about sound and responded childishly that people are picking on him, and never conceeded the point that he was wrong. Instead you whined about how he's being picked on and insulted.
>and light years ahead of many > when it come to free software, even at 19yo. >
You know, in this regard, I'll grant your arguments points. He has a real and legitemate interest in Free Software and has eventsive knowledge, some of which doesn't overlap my own background. That being said, this thread on the Linux desktop not being 'ready' yet, show major lack of knowledge about Free Software, its use, and its benifits to users more than him and his small circle of friends.

He was doing a full tilt advocacy of Mandrake based on his preference. Now mind you, this I have no problem with, and in fact admire this trait. But when your doing the hard sell advocacy and then when others respond with their own preferences in debate, and then you get insulted and whimper away, this is neurotic beyond belief.
Aside from that, Mandrake, as I understand things, wasn't at that time totally free software. It had acrobatic reader among other issues. He likes Mandrake. What do I care. That he insults people who disagrees with him with little asides sprinkled through out a message board, the immature pouting, back channel gossiping, and general malcontentness while battling in the arena of free ideas which ticks me off.

What :) You lost me Ray.
> > As for the mugger comment, Sunny is exremely tolerant,
No he isn't. He's extremely intolerant. If Sunny and I were discussing you in this thread, we would ***not*** be able to meet later in the day or the week for a beer and a laugh. He'd be off pouting for weeks. No doubt, you, being a tolerant and mature guy, will be able to have this discussion, and later sit down for a week and actually plan to do something benificial together.
This kid is not tolerant. He hasn't learned that let, and I don't yet see anything on the horizon which demonstrates that he's learning tolerance.

I'm glad he's your friend. Better you than me.
> I've NEVER seen him banned from the nylug list for any period of time, > unlike others.
Yeah well. C'est la Vie. I've only been banned from NYLUG once, after the 9-11-01 attacks, in which, actually I was right... it was an act of war.
I'll tell you this much, if I laid out the series of personal attacks he has on NYLUG, I would have been bounced. And not just him, but Alex Pilosoft as well.
Should I cut and paste the dozen or so unprovokes barbs in a reply here to demonstrate the point?
As for this being childish, hey - if they allowed it, I'd have vented this on the NYLUG list where his childish insults apears, but ***that would be a violation of NYLUG rules***. It's their list, they can make the rules and I have to respect them.
Just because Sunny can get away with talking smack on NYLUG doesn't give me the ability.
