" " Usability Study - We discussed several different venues for running a GNU/Linux desktop usability " study. Steve will look at getting Brooklyn College Students to help run the study. Ruben is looking " at getting a group together through a contact for the study, as well is Evan. Qualified participants " must have as limited computing expereince as possible. We will be meeting this week to outline the " study. " " The Free Software Chamber of Commerce reports that it has an opening for up to 3 programmers for a hack of SQL " Ledger. The Group of three programmers are meeting the week starting the 15th of August (this week). " " FSI Classes will be scheduled for October and a staff meeting will be help the last week of August to discuss " specific scheduling " " Summer Fund Raising Event - Vote needs to be taken on several suggestions: " a: Hudson River Trip to Bear Mountain " b: Boat Ride out of Sheepshead Bay " c: Party in Brooklyn " d: Charity Softball Game in Central Park " " A New Python study group is being formed by Akbar Pasha " " Programming Project: A Free Software Clinical Pharmacuetics program in C and GTK is being developed " starting this week with Pasha and Ruben for Drug Level Estimations and other criticle medical determinations " based on Biological information. " " Web Site Redesign - Pasha Akbar will fix several parts of the NYLXS site including the NYLXS Journal Section. " Pasha and Aksay Arora will get together to fix the general NYLXS site " " The Next NYLXS Journal is to be published in September and a call for papers is being called. We have " commitments for articles from Noel Humphreys (recieved), Robert Marino on his inservice of LDAP and Authentication, " Free Software as a social movement from Ruben Safir adjunct to the speach made in Princeton, NJ, Crossfire, the " kings of games by Dovid Safir, Ripping video by Micheal Richardson. We had a discussion about formating the Journal " and we decided to continue with PS, HTML, PAPER and now add PDF formats. " " " Hardware Recycling - We are getting a contribution of systems from Evan Inker and GAM, Inc as well as we are picking " up about 15 PC's from Westchester. Ellen Safir will pick these up after arriving back in New York from her visit " to Milwuakee, Wisconcin.
