SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] "No Subject" BUG in Kmail - Watch Out!!!!
|
Guys, I horrible bug exists in Kmail! I lost ALL of my 150+ existing emails yesterday. Watch Out! If this happens to you - DO NOT OPEN KMAIL AND DO NOT RETRIEVE ANY EMAIL FROM THE SERVER - until you remove all the *.index.* files in the /Mail directory. Here is what happened to me: Yesterday, July 22, I opened Kmail. Kmail defaults to highlight the bottom email in the window. The message highlighted Subject line now said, "No Subject". The entire message - and I mean every field - disappeared. All the information/data was gone from the email message. Naturally, I closed and re-opened Kmail a number of times. Of course, the bottom item was highlighted and read, "No Subject". I did this about 10 times including rebooting and rechecking the email messages. At this point I had lost about 20 important emails. Eventually, I lost all my emails. After searching the internet the "fix" i found was to delete all the *.index.* files in the Mail directory. I deleted every *.index.* file and now my email messages don't automatically revert to "No Subject" messages. Windows has VIRUSES that destruct. Linux has BUGS that destruct. Aren't VIRUSES and BUGS the same damn thing? I intend to get to the bottom of this. P.S. SIAC in downtown Brooklyn seems to be hiring. I just got a job there! APPLY!
