Despite all the flaws one may find in this country we are still the best there is.
One doesnt have to live under the burden of the opinion of others. People are free to define and redefine their lives here, sadly too many Americans fail to take advantage of that opportunity.
>From a personal stand point I find it humorous when people mistake my wild eyed enthusiasm for naivetey. I had one particular instance when someone told me the only reason I'm not troubled by the direction this country is taking is because my family comes from a country where we were far worse off. If it were true (which she was wrong about anyway) I still bring personal experience from a country which at a time was the worst regime to live in.
The only mistakes I ever made involved me giving a $hit about opinions others, who never held me in any high regard anyway, had of me.
