SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] [dank@kegel.com: [Lula] Novell User Group looking for a Linux presentation]
|
Here's a laundry list of what they'd like to hear about. Anyone want to work up a presentation? Giving the presentation once at Lula before taking it to the Novell group would make a great dry run... - Dan

Hi Dan
Sorry to take so long to reply to your e-mail. I've been thinking about this for a while, was outa town for a bit, and we also talked a bit about it at our meeting last night. I think what we need is an overview of Linux networking for non-Linux network admins on a basic level, whatever could be covered in no more than 2 hours from the list below. And the list is a work in process, too.
An overview of the Linux kernel What differentiates a Linux server from a Linux workstation? Basic setup of a Linux Server After Linux is installed as a server...how do you maintain/manage/customize? User account setup Setting and resetting passwords and policies Setting and troubleshooting file access rights Printing Security setup
Wadaya think? Am I on the right track or about to crash? Is this something you or someone in your group might be interested in making a presentation on? Re: schedule, June is now out and the only open time slot this year is November 23rd.
Am curious about another topic...what's been the reaction of the Linux community to Novell's entry into their world? Is there much, or even any, ongoing discussion of the situation? Or just some talk when they bought SuSE and no nothing?
Regards,
Mark
