SUBJECT | Subject: [hangout] Putty & Suse 9.1 OpenSSH
|
Greetings!
For all those using Putty (SSH Client for Windows PCs) to access a Suse 9.1 Server via SSH, please note that Suse 9.1 uses, by default, DES encryption and Putty, by default configuration, tends not to like DES (too insecure a protocol and 3DES is now the standard) encryption unless you change the option on the "Putty Configuration Tab - SSH" to include DES above the --warn below here -- line.
Also for security sake, do not use SSH Protocol version 1. Set "Preferred SSH Protocol version" to use SSH 2 only....
Thanks to all who helped and provided ideas and suggestions......
Regards,
Evan
