One is an immediate project (fixed-price) to add a number of features to an existing web site (http://www.masscharterschools.org/). The first part of that is a job posting site. We have a backend mysql database structure that can be used as the basis for it (it currently manages all of the database driven code that you'll find if you dig down to the Fellowship section).
The second need is simply to provide ongoing technical support for the client. This probably averages an hour a month and involves small features, bug fixes, and the like. On both of these you'd be working with our designer, who is the main liaison with the client.
If you are interested, another task (and we can talk about compensation for this--I'm more into this part for the fame :-) is to enhance and document the Embperl/Perl Library tools used to build this site, and get them out for public download so that other people can take advantage of them.
All programming would be done from your current location. We can provide a development environment with sftp/ssh access and a web server as necessary--although if you have your own that you can use, that's probably easiest. Source code control is in CVS over ssh.
What I'd like to see if you are available (and we're talking starting full time immediately, and then part time later on) is a brief description of related projects you've worked on, and if possible, some sample Embperl and/or Perl code you've written. Don't worry, I'm not expecting massively commented neat stuff--just looking at basic structure and if available, OO design. I'd also like an idea of what you would be expecting for rates, and what your long term availability is (i.e. are you in the consulting business, or in-between jobs).

I'm not sure which upsets me more: that people are so unwilling to accept responsibility for their own actions, or that they are so eager to regulate everyone else's. -- __________________________ Brooklyn Linux Solutions
