Hello all,
Have some ideas for general consideration, given the problems I'm seeing from list emails.
1) Too much organization, too soon. There are actually too many people involved given the lack of a central vision. It's very hard to develop a vision by consensus.
Proposed solution: Each representative group figure out what they would do if they had access and control over their own conference. Come back together for the next meeting with a conference plan. Rather than coming up with a centralized conference design, the actual convention can be a stitching together of the various plans (which would rather accurately reflect the workings of the open source community at large). The OrgCom can create bridge events around the various "mini-conventions". Sort of a literal version of "The Bazaar" from years past.
2) Name Suggestion: Open Expo, TNG (The Nerd Gathering) or The Bazaar, TNG ... I like TNG in the name because there's nothing more unifying among nerds than some trek humor, and the double entendre is rather apropos(1). (sorry, couldn't help myself)
Thoughts?
